Hey guys!

I am completely new to this forum but have been reading several posts and decided to sign up. I am running a website called DAILY800 (http://daily800.com). We publish 800 word articles written by inspiring characters and have featured such people as Senior NASA scientist Dr. Bilal Bomani, ZeroWaste Advocate and owner of Unpackaged (London-based zero waste supermarket) Cathrine Conway, Travel Blogger Jodi Ettenberg, psychologist and multiple TED talker Barry Schwartz and others. Our aim is to inspire and educate.

We are currently looking for business 'gurus' and people who have had success with blogs/businesses/non-profits to come and share their 800 words. Since this entire forum is about personal development I thought this would be a good place to have this discussion. Who inspires you? And why?

I would love to hear who you guys think could be great candidates?

In the coming months we will be featuring marketing guru Jay Baer, 'master' of innovation David Burkus, Kia Silverbrook (the guy who has invented the most things and hold the most patterns... Ever), Christian Vater from the social enterprise Deutschland Rundet Auf - our aim is not articles on business, personal development etc, but to have a platform for inspiring people to share 800 words with the world - on any topic.

Let me know who you think of when you think of people who inspire you :)

Kind regards,
Chris

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Oprah Winfrey and Denzel Washington inspire me the most. The first two inspire me because they have contributed to a better society, with King having extraordinary courage. Denzel inspires me because he's a great actor and has charm.

Vishen Lakhiani, founder of mind valley, because he was able to start with nothing and make one of the best work places to work at and help so many people learn meditation and visualization techniques.

Bruce Lee is one of the people who inspire me the most and with a little research about him, it'll be easy to understand why.

Some books have inspired me:

“Ask for the Moon and Get It!” by Percy Ross a must read!!!!
“Awaken the Giant Within” by Anthony Robbins.
“The Power of Your Subconscious Mind” by Joseph Murphy.
"Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway" by Susan Jeffers.

My mentor Sarah Staar inspires me because she is dynamic, hardworking and encourages her protégées.
As a child a new headmaster inspired me he ran activities on a Saturday mornings for the children - sadly he is now dead.

Me too many books have inspired me :
- The 4 hour work week by Tim Ferriss
- Think and become rich by Napoleon Hill
- Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki
I have known these books thanks to Olivier Roland, a french blogger and author.

My biggest inspiration is my one-year-old son. How can someone go from being so small (born 2 months early) to learning to walk, talk and become such a happy soul? Children literally start from scratch and work every single day to do what they want to do. Yes, he has fallen over plenty of times, and he still does. But he never gives up. And for as long as I have breath in my body, I won't give up on him!

But I understand you can't write a blog post about my son, that would be weird...

Warren Buffet - I read The Snowball a while ago and that really kicked me off in business.
Darren Hardy - The Compound Effect (actions build upon each other)
Hal Elrod - The Miracle Morning (been consistent for 26 days and I can see it improving my life)
Dave Asprey - The Bulletproof Executive (changing lives and battling health issues)
Thomas Delong, a research assistant professor at the University of Colorado School of Medicine - a sufferer of T1 diabetes, paving the way for a cure.

This definitely is another venue to look onto most especially by people who are aspiring to be successful in life. This site does not only make people more empowered, but likewise makes them feel encouraged to do what they think they're good at. For more tips about how to become successful, take time to visit naturopathy expert Dr. Sundardas' web sites.

I'm always overly cautious of ever following people with the persona of Tony Robbins or Gary V (for business). They are preaching what a lot of highly successful people already do. No doubt they are appealing to their audience and giving value. However, they aren't special. As far as their angle, Tony Robbins makes thousands off of every guest at his seminars.

If you look at any self-made individual who's "made it," you'd better believe they kept their head down and worked for years.

I am definitely inspired by people who have big heart. Despite their sorrows, and we all know life is not easy sometimes, they still spread love, laugh and joy.
