For me definition of happiness is Balance.
Balance I think is most important word, when someone seeking happiness and success.
Imagine, you have great car, house, you are the best in your job - you have great career.
But, have in a bad condition, you don´t feel good, you are unhealthy,
Or your relationships isn´t good, you argue a lot with your family, wife/husband, friends.
If your life will be like I mention above, Would you be happy?
You would be professionally on the top, but I think, no one could feel so fulfilled.
Because for me, happiness and success is only, when all important areas of my life fit together.
For me these areas are:
Health
Professional life
Personal life

How you define happiness?
And what are your areas of happiness?

Thanks for sharing your opinion!

Happiness for me is gratitude for all the blessings we have in life, and being able to help other people. I am very happy and feel satisfied when I can help someone solve a problem they have.

I think that happiness isn't a function of an outside event happening, but how we choose to feel inside. I express my happiness by expressing gratitude and helping people who have problems.

Cheers!

For me: happines is way of thinking, living and loving.

There is no reason to be un-happy for a long time while you are still breathing and living.

I like to be happy :)

To me happiness is responsibility.

As long as I'm responsible for everything in my own life, I can do something to change it. The process of changing something makes me a happier person.

So really responsibility allows me to keep moving and being proactive, where pointing fingers to other people or circumstances creates discomfort and depression because it means I cannot do anything about it, until I take responsibility.

It's even so important to me that I wrote an article about responsibility if you're interested in learning more about my thought process behind this.

All the best,
Mick

Ecstasy, the feeling of not the drug lol ✨

I'm a very intense and extreme person so happinessto me isn't calm or always comfortable, I feel happiest when I lose myself in something and feel the highest of highs, I like to take other people there too.

Transcendance but I tend to run people who like to stay safe up the wrong way!

Hapiness is a way of being. And it seems that people make themselves happy thorugh various means, be it responsibility, gratitude, balance, ecstasy, love.

For me happiness is that which you feel no matter what you do and no matter what happens to you. And gratitude for being human beings for being alive, for being here now is the strongest one that reminds me that there is no way to be but happy.

We are experiencing a way of living that is so unique and beautiful. We are free to make this experience a wonderful experience or we can make it a living nightmare. It is just a mindset that we need to adjust. And the society and our evolutionary impulses makes this mindset attainment a bit hard. I think later in the future we will finally understand that the way we feel is 100% our choice.

Such a great topic! So much value has been shared here, which I very much concur with. Happiness for me is "balance and a way of being" as shared above. I will also like to add that happiness for me is PEACE. Being mindful to maintain a peace of mind for my - emotional, spiritual, relationship, family and mental health. I have learnt how to separate issues that arise, from having a negative impact on my peace of mind (of course I'm not referring to major incidents). This is so crucial, because if you're not careful, so many things arise during the day, over the course of the week, with reference to the kids etc that will steal your peace of mind. So, happiness for me is being able to deal with these issues and regard them as just that. Maintaining that peace of mind, is essential for my productivity, focus, success, energy and ultimate happiness.

Happiness for me is gratitude for all the blessings we have in life, ...
I totally agree with this. I think gratitude is the ability to recognize the value of the things that we have. So, even if we had everything we needed in order to be happy, except for gratitude, we might feel as if we have nothing of importance. It would be impossible to be happy that way.

To me happiness is responsibility.

As long as I'm responsible for everything in my own life, I can do something to change it.
Until now I’d never thought of responsibility this way. To me, responsibility generally felt like a burden. But looking at it this way, it feels more like an opportunity. So, I’m really happy to have read the way you think of it. Thanks for posting your thoughts.

I think happiness is like a puzzle that came without the box that has the preview of the completed image. There are many pieces that need to be put in place to complete the picture of happiness.
So, I agree with most of you. The things you mentioned are pieces of the puzzle.
I think that we each already have some of the puzzle put together, and always have. But we might not notice that because we don’t feel like we’re happy until the puzzle is at least mostly complete. Instead, we notice the pieces that we’re currently trying to put into place (areas that we know we need to work on to be happy or become happier) or we remember the ones that made the image a lot more recognizable once we found the right spots for them (the things that made a big difference in our level of happiness when we began to do them/ understand them).

So, to answer this question, basically all the things that people have mentioned here are also what my definition of happiness is. Plus many more things.
But, the ones that I’m currently focused on and that come immediately to mind when I think of this question are freedom and connection.

I deeply dislike the feeling of not being able to make my own decisions. Which is why I now have a job that allows me to make my own schedule and work from any place that’s got a good internet connection.
And after experiencing being so connected to friends that it felt like we could read others’ minds, and then experiencing the loneliness of literally having no friends and no one to turn to, I understand the importance of human connection. I understand how those connections can play a part in forming someone’s identity. I understand how much we rely on being with other people to make things interesting or fun.
Don’t get me wrong, somethings can be fun on your own, but doing things with others provide a different kind of experience than doing them alone, often times. And one that I find necessary to some extent.
