The importance of a dietary fat regimen

When it comes to taking care of our bodies, sometimes many of us forget the importance that fat has in our diet. The energy that is produced by calories come from fatty acids such as, omega-3 and omega-6. The communication of signals associated with neurotransmitters in the body begins with these fatty acids. Without these acids, our bodies would suffer severe consequences. Omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids are molecules that we also considered nutrients.

A balance of one-to-one ratio of omega-3 with omega-6 is needed in order to establish a healthy regimen.

Prevention of Serious Illness
The connection between these fats is also vital in preventing a chemical imbalance. A low level of omega-3 acids can leave you more susceptible to depression as well as other ailments. Many studies indicate that a diet that is high in omega-3 combined with the appropriate amount of omega-6, will reduce the risk cardiovascular disease, inflammation complications, cancer, development disorders, and cognitive aging.

Good sources of omega-3 can be found within plant leaves such as spinach, soybean. Omega-3 is also found in fish as well as other seafood.

Our bodies regulate about 200 different type of cells. These cells produce all molecules that are needed to continue living, growing, healing, reproduction, and to keep the body working like it should.

How fatty acids react within the metabolism

During the digestion process enzymes, which are proteins that adjust the speed of chemical reaction inside our bodies. Without enzymes, these reactions would be to slow to keep us alive. In our DNA enzymes are used to construct smaller molecules into larger atoms. Enzymes are also active in the communication between cells, allowing cells growth, and maintaining live. The consumed fatty acids are altered by enzymes, which adds, or deletes carbon within the chemical code. These changes happen in our brain, liver, and retina.

The effects within the body


Serotonin function throughout the brain. This is a neurotransmitter that is responsible for transferring messages. The brain cells have difficulty understanding the sequence of serotonin if it does not have enough omega-3 fat.


Dopamine is another chemical messenger in the brain. It has the task of activating the frontal cortex. Inadequate dopamine function causes low activity in the left frontal cortex. As we know the frontal cortex is responsible for determining good mood and it supports the motivation for our desires as well. Disorganization of this chemical messenger can lead to depression.


Omega-6 within our bodies contributes to the body's defense through the immune system, which protects us from infection. Without the body's inflammation response our bodies would run the risk of transforming every minor injury into a fatal infection.

In conclusion

To keep ourselves in the best health takes work. The benefit is better concentration, appetite, mood, improved energy level, sleep, and cognitive agility.
