To me, prayer provides a much needed respite from the day's worries. When I pray, in earnest, it feels like I'm handing my worries over to a higher power. Then, I can walk away feeling clean. And, prayer may be good for the health. Awhile back, Prevention magazine conducted a health study that proved prayer and daily meditation or even chanting can have tremendous health benefits for the individual. Whenever possible, I try to set aside some time every night to pray and reflect on the blessings my family has. Why do you pray? Do you pray for guidance? Do you pray for financial success? Or, do you pray to feel a closer bond with a higher power?
I pray for everything. Prayer for me is a communication with my Creator. Prayer, involves worship to God, thanksgiving, ( thanking Him for everything He has done in our lives,) Request for guidance, help, deliverance, healing and more. I feel very sad and life is empty if I didn't pray. For me, Prayer is very essential in our daily lives. Ask God His will and plan for our lives.
Why do I pray? Because I love Him. Being a doting child to our Heavenly Father, I have an obligation to report every deed (bad or good) to Him. By so doing, I create a closer intimacy between us, and this intimacy lightens the burden of each passing day.
I pray when I am absolutely desperate and when there is no physical medium that could possibly get me out of the mess that I'm in. Only a spiritual being that I can depend on can guide me through those tough times.
Because it gives me super hero powers! *superman pose* LOL So why do I pray? I pray because it's necessary! Prayer is the only way to communicate with God. I pray for all the blessings I've received, will receive and keep receiving. I also pray to apologize!
I pray for everything, Praying is the only way to communicate with Him. Request for guidance, help, deliverance, healing and more. I do not feel good when I not pray.
I pray because I believe in God. I know that He will always be there for me in good and tough times. I pray for all the blessings that He has given me. I pray because I know He will always help me whenever I need Him. I pray because I'm thankful for all the persons He has given me. I pray for strength, power, wisdom and knowledge. I pray because I love Him.
We pray because we want someone to confide in. Someone we know that would not leak out our deepest secrets. And we pray because we have faith in God.
I pray because I want to talk to God, and He wants me to do it too. I pray to him because He listens to me. He listens lovingly. God is my Ultimate Best Friend, that's why I always communicate to Him through prayers.
I don't pray. I hope people here don't dislike/judge me for saying this, but I just don't find that it helps it me. I'd rather find it in me to give myself strength (if that makes sense) than rely on prayer to give me strength.
I pray for guidance. I pray for strength. We all need to believe to the higher power. And I know my stand.
For people with religious beliefs (such as myself), we pray for spiritual guidance and wisdom from the divine "higher-ups". Otherwise, I believe that prayer works as a form a meditation and a way to re-discover a balance in your life amidst everything that's going on. Prayer sessions can also work as quiet moments where you can reflect upon yourself and everything around you.
Praying is connecting with the Supreme Being, call it God, Universal Mind Power, or whatever other denomination you know him, so I believe people pray to get in touch with an entity whose understanding an wisdom is above that of humans. I pray to speak out my mind, whether when I'm sad, I'm happy or I'm in need to get a solution, which I can't find withing my human reasoning. The answer may come or may not, but the inner peace you gain after praying is by itself truly comforting.
I was amazed by your comment, cause I'm constantly telling my young daughter the same thing about how God is her best friend, someone who is more than happy to help any time she needs something. Sometimes, when she finds out that I'm in pain or having a down day, she says, "Mommy, I will pray for you." And, then she goes off and prays. To me, that's really wonderful, cause so many children lack the ability to pray or are never taught about prayer. I wanted her to know about prayer, cause so many young people get into bad influences and feel pressure to smoke or do drugs or get involved in risky behavior and they don't have anyone to turn to at home (or don't think anyone cares). And, I wanted her to know that whenever she needs him, God will be there and all she has to do is call out and ask for help. P.S. Thanks to everyone for your amazing comments.
I pray to thank God for giving me knowledge and wisdom, I pray to thank God for guiding me, giving me safety and security, I pray for God for giving me skills and talent I share. I pray simply because God gave me what I needed the most. I never prayed to want something, I never prayed to God for helping me with my problem as he do gave me life to face them and to enhance my skills. I pray to thank God.
All very good reasons for giving thanks to God. And, many times, I pray for the same reason to say thank you for my lovely family and for all the things he has blessed me with. Also, I pray when a loved one is sick. I'm not saying we don't go to the doctor or take medicine, but sometimes a person is beyond a doctor's help or in such pain that even medication does not help. And, for those times, God intervenes well.
I used to have a friend who is a local Priest in our community and he taught me that praying is not about asking God to help you to be rich or wishing you had a good life, he said that we should thank God first before anything else. That's why whenever I pray I will thank God. And asking for our love one's safety is good too. God always there with us we just need to have faith.
I have a random question. Thought maybe someone can help me. It seems to be the trend for me, that the majority of time that I pray is when I am at a low point in life. Ex : Stressed, sad, mad, worry...etc.. Which in turn makes me feel guilty. Is it bad to pray when your troubled. I give thanks for another day on earth. If something is good I sometimes pray. I feel weird that I pray more when I'm worried than when I'm happy. I don't go to church every Sunday. I don't read the bible as much as I should. Maybe this isn't the right area to ask. If someone can give me some feedback I would appreciate it. If not thanks for at least taking the time to read my post.
Prayer comprises everything. It involves Thanksgiving, Praising, Asking for guidance, providing our daily needs, and a lot more. He is worthy of all our praise and thanksgiving. There are 3 kinds of men in terms of Prayer. - Men who came to seek God in Prayer if he is in abundant Blessings ( It involves thanksgiving and praising unto God) - Men who came and seek God if he is in troubles or problems ( It is more on asking from God than thanksgiving) - Men who both seek and come to God either he is blessed or in problems and troubles ( He prayed with thanksgiving, praises and he can even ask God of what he wants) As we know that Giving is always partnered with Thanksgiving. If your father give you something and you thank him all the time, he is glad to give you again and again. He will feel bad if you just come to him if you are in need and forget him if you are in abundance. Same thing with our Creator, we need to thank him everyday, for good times and bad times. Not only calling His name if we are in need. re: about reading the Bible and going to church. My opinion is we bought live on our physical and spiritual life. We eat everyday, maybe 3 times a day and snacks in between. Same thing with our spiritual life. We need to feed by the word of God. As we read the Bible in Matthew 4:4 - Man does not live by bread alone but by the word the proceeds out from the mouth of God. Reading our bible is the answer to spiritual hungriness. And talking about going to the church, it is important as well to our daily lives because in the church where we can have a fellowship with our brothers and sister in Christ. In the church, we can celebrate together our victories by giving our testimonies to inspire other as well. So, for me its all important in our lives.
