Not all people believe in the authenticity of Jesus Christ and his message and so this post is only for people who do. At the age of 33, Jesus was condemned to death. During his era, Crucifixion was considered to be worst type of death because back then only the worst criminals were condemned to die like that. It was then much more horrible for Jesus because he was to be nailed to the cross by both hands and feet. One nail was 6 to 8 inches long. The nails were driven into His wrist and not into the palms as popularly portrayed. There's a tendon in the wrist that extends to the shoulder. The Roman guards were aware that when the nails were being hammered into the wrist that tendon would tear and break, forcing Jesus to use His back muscles to support himself in order to breathe. Both of His feet were nailed together. Thus He was forced to support Himself on the single nail that impaled His feet to the cross. Jesus could not support himself with His legs because of the pain so He was forced to alternate between arching His back then used his legs just to continue to breathe. Imagine the struggle, the pain, the suffering and the courage. Jesus endured this for over 3 hours. Yes, over 3 hours! Can you imagine this kind of suffering? A few minutes before He died, Jesus stopped bleeding. He was simply pouring water from his wounds. From common images we could see wounds to His hands and feet and even the spear wound to His side but do we realize His wounds were actually made in his body. A hammer driving large nails through the wrist, the feet overlapped and an even large nail hammered through the arches, then a Roman guard piercing His side with a spear. But before the nails and the spear Jesus was whipped and beaten. The whipping was so stern that it tore the flesh from His body. The beating was so horrendous that His face was torn and his beard ripped from His face. The crown of thorns cut intensely into His scalp. Any other man would not have survived the ordeal. He had no more blood. To bleed out, only water poured from His wounds. The human adult body contains about 3.5 liters -- just less than a gallon -- of blood. Jesus poured all 3.5 liters of his blood. He had three nails hammered into His body, a crown of thorns on His head and a Roman soldier who stabbed a spear into His chest. All these without counting the humiliation He suffered after carrying His own cross for almost 2 kilometers, while the crowd spat in his face and threw stones. The cross was almost 30 kg of weight only for its higher part, where His hands were nailed. He died for all of us including those who don’t care about him. God has plans for all of us and time will reveal it to the whole world. Everything does not end here but in fact we are only going into the real beginning!
I actually had read it through a post of a friend. Just looking at the photo, it really shows the hardships that He had suffered from people who do not show any mercy for Him. And it was also the sign of how much love He have for us that He was willing to bear such pain.
Believing in Jesus is not the religion of the moment, the politically correct religion. With that said, I, am not a politically correct person. I say what I mean, and mean what I say. I believe in Jesus Christ. I believe he died on the cross for our sins. It's a sad situation for a person to be tortured for their religious beliefs. Unfortunately, it is happening today in the Middle East. Christians are being forced into renouncing their religious beliefs or be tortured and killed.
I think you are correct when you say that believing in Jesus Christ and his message of salvation and peace under the Kingdom of God is not the politically correct religion. And it is really sad. But what is sadder is the fact that there is a nation founded by pioneering people who had strong faith on Jesus Christ but is now sliding back against its own faith. There would really come a time when using the name of Jesus Christ would be illegal -- and the basis to be invoked is the religious freedom itself!
