Is it that folks are shy about welcoming new-comers?

    In a nutshell ...

Over the past three years I have been working at personal development and positivity in several areas of my Life. During the past 8 months or so, I've thrown Spirituality into the mix. It all started back when I created a negative Life experience in which I found myself in a deep dark depression. Fast forward to today, I am a much happier and peaceful person as I continue down this path of internal ( and external ) change.

I came looking today, for forums on the internet where I could discuss the many positive changes, the uphill battles and the joys of Life, all the while hoping that maybe some of my words will help those in need. Even if it's just one person. I'm also here hoping that some of your words through your experiences, may help me as I continue to look inward and make the necessary changes in my Life.

Welcome masquerade. I went through something very similar to what you describe, a great many years ago but a turning point that was deeply personal. While some approach personal development from a pragmatic point of view, which I respect, my spiritual beliefs are a critical part of it and came first. It's led me to many successful areas in my life that I'm thankful for. Not to say everything is perfect, I think anyone who thinks they are perfect is either lying or fooling themselves, we are all on a never ending path of growth. What's often still challenging for me is accepting that some still need to go through the path of severe negativity for an unknown period of time. There may be hard lessons they have to experience themselves, and while we can try to guide them, sometimes nothing we can say or do is going to change anything.

Agreed. And thank you for your welcome.

There are people in my life I would love to help, but I/we/you can not make that decision for them. They have to come to that realization all on their own. The sad part of it is ... some people ... many people .. go through their life never seeing that the power to change is within. They see no reason to change their thought process or the beliefs they've held close their whole lives. Instead, they wait for other people and other circumstances to change to their liking. Eh .. ain't gonna happen.

I hope you're enjoy your time here on Personal Development. I think most times with forums, people just don't think to check the introduction threads. They want to focus on the main topics on the rest of the board, so while they may look occasionally, then they step back out instead of replying. I know I don't tend to reply to them. The only reason you're getting a response is because you asked about people being too shy to reply, hehe.
