In many parts of Asia, ginger is known as a very popular spice for cooking. However, aside from its versatility in the kitchen, it can also give us many healthy benefits.

Ginger can be utilized for its anti-inflammatory property and this is useful for people who have some pain and those suffering from arthritis. It is found out that ginger has some compounds that can help lessen the pain-inducing prostaglandin levels. It is recommended to take around 1,000 milligrams a day in order to see some relief.

Someone also suggested that ginger can even be used by people who have hair loss. Just extract the juice and then massage it onto the scalp and leave on for at some 20 minutes then rinse or you can also leave it overnight. However, I have not tried this one so be careful – who knows by tomorrow some ginger leaves would be sprouting out of your head.

I am sure there are additional uses of this very humble rhizome. Just sharing here some of them…:D

A lady I know makes ginger tea daily and everyone in her family drinks it. She claims everyone has been healthy since she started this and no one has come down with any colds or flu! This is awesome since she works at the grocery store and comes in contact with people who are sick coming in to grab a few things, get their prescriptions filled, etc.

Wow, you learn something new everyday. I always just thought Ginger was only good for stomach issues and hangovers. I like tea so maybe I'll try drinking the ginger tea daily. I wonder if I can get my daughter to drink it. She's always catching colds.

So true that it was common to include ginger to make local dishes here more delicious.
I remembered my grandmother had made oil with ginger and use it to massage her body specially in the leg part where she have arthritis. Ginger tea is also use to treat some throat problem and believed to be helpful in making voice have better quality. ;)

We always heard of famous singers who are incorporating ginger tea or "salabat" to what they are taking presumably to help their voice be preserved and be enhanced. It is also true that ginger especially the turmeric can help people suffering from arthritis as a remedy for pain and inflammation. There are now many proven ways that ginger can really help us improve our quality of life. I am sure that as years go by, more and more validation of the efficacy of this humble spice would be coming in to the table. :D

I didn't know about some of those. I do know ginger is amazing for upset stomachs, though. I used to only think about ginger ale for that, but even just having some ginger root fresh shaved into some tea or steeped with it is awesome. It's even good cooking it into scones and cookies.
